dc.description.abstract | Digital inclusion is the ability of individuals and groups to access and use information and communication technologies (ICT). Digital inclusion includes not only internet access, but also the availability of hardware and software, related content and services, as well as training in necessary digital literacy skills. This research aims to determine the impact of digital inclusion on elderly people who use social media. The research also looked at the impact of social media, such as making it easier for the elderly to communicate with relatives and friends, being a means for the elderly to seek entertainment and information and making it easier for the elderly to receive hoax news. This research uses descriptive research with a qualitative approach. Data analysis techniques use observation, interviews and documentation. The research results show that digital inclusion includes easy access to digital technology and increasing the digital literacy of the elderly. The impact of digital inclusion on elderly people who use social media, as happened in Sunggal District, presents its own challenges for the elderly. In these regions, technology adoption may not be as rapid or efficient as in more developed urban areas. However, the impact of social media use on the elderly can be seen from the ease with which the elderly can communicate with relatives and friends, indicating that the elderly feel that applications such as WhatsApp and Facebook are very intuitive and easy to use. Become a means for the elderly to seek entertainment and information by accessing health information, healthy lifestyle tips, and guides for taking up new hobbies or fun activities. Become a means for the elderly to get the latest news by showing intelligence in filtering and verifying the truth of the news before considering it as reliable information. Opportunities to share experiences and knowledge by increasing social engagement and helping to stay connected with the world around us. Apart from having a positive impact, the use of social media has a negative impact, namely the ease with which elderly people receive hoax news. | en_US |
