This research was conducted on well water from communities living around TPA Terjun with
a radius of 0 – 700 m. TPA Terjun is located in Medan Marelan District, Terjun Village.
This research aims to determine the characteristics of the heavy metals Cd, Fe, Zn and Pb
in groundwater around the Terjun landfill and to determine the environmental health risks
to people who consume groundwater contaminated with the heavy metals Cd, Fe, Zn and Pb.
Groundwater sampling is carried out in the rainy season, namely November 2023, and the
dry season, namely March 2024. Water sampling refers to SNI 69.89.58:2008 concerning
groundwater collection methods. The quality standards for the heavy metals Cd, Pb, Fe and
Zn used in this research are based on Minister of Health Regulation No. 2 of 2023, namely
0.03 mg/L, 0.01 mg/L, 0.2 mg/L and 3 mg/L. There were 18 respondents in this study who
used water for cooking and drinking. Groundwater samples will be measured for pH
parameters and heavy metal concentrations, namely Cd, Pb, Fe and Zn. Apart from that,
other data used is respondent data which will be used to calculate intake in exposure
analysis. Based on the research results, it shows that the average heavy metals Cd, Pb, Fe
and Zn in the rainy season are 0.068 mg/L, 0.48 mg/L, 0.24 mg/L and 0.12 mg/L. The average
yields of heavy metals Cd, Pb, Fe and Zn in the dry season were 0.027 mg/L, 0.028 mg/L,
0.33 mg/l and 0.0007 mg/L. The results of the total non-carcinogenic risk characteristics in
adults in the rainy season produce an RQ value>1, while in the dry season the RQ<1. The
results of total carcinogenic characteristics in children during the rainy season produced a
value of RQ>1, while in the dry season it was RQ>1. The results of the carcinogenic risk
characteristics of adults and children in the rainy season and monsoon produced an ECR
value> 0.0001. So it is said to be dangerous if consumed by the community around TPA
Terjun and will have a negative impact on health
