dc.description.abstractThe development of infotmation technology brings a change in society. The birth of social media creates creativity in social media creates creativity in social media users, especially creativity in creating slang. Slang language whch was initially an attempt to familiarize communication has actually led to the neglect of language order. This research aims to determine the influence of social media on shifts in Indonesian grammar. This research uses a descriptive-qualitative research method with data collection techniques using participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation with the aim of obtaining field data that is appropriate to conditions in the field regarding the influence of social media on shifts in Indonesian grammar. The research results show that the use of slang in social media influences Indonesian grammar which is triggered by the spread of slang in everyday language use. The use of good and correct Indonesian is currently starting to shift, this is because users are used to using slang and don’t even realize where the right space is to use it. This results in ignoring standard, good and correct language rules and regulations, even ignoring language rules and regulations, even ignoring language culture that is in accordance wth the values of society’s structure. So social media users, especially students, need to pay attention to the procedures for using language and pay attention to language use in every situation, both formal and informal.en_US
