Childfree, or the decision not to have children, has become increasingly prominent in Japan over the past few decades. This study aims to delve deeper into the reasons behind the childfree decision, the factors, impacts, and implications for Japanese society as a whole. The method used is qualitative research in the form of library research from books and other literature such as journals and articles, using a qualitative approach. The study shows that the main factors driving the childfree decision include high economic pressure, rising living costs, and increasingly competitive career demands. The impact of the rising number of childfree individuals in Japan includes a drastic decline in birth rates, contributing to demographic issues such as an aging population and a decrease in the workforce. Conclusion: The childfree phenomenon in Japan shows an increase in individuals and couples choosing not to have children, influenced by economic pressures, high living costs, and changes in social values. This trend contributes to a declining birth rate, raising concerns about the long-term demographic and economic impacts on the country.
