A Description of The Main Characters Conflict in The Movie ‘Top Gun : Maverick’

Abstract

This study aims to describe the description and conflict of the main characters in movie “Top Gun : Maverick” series and explains why and how the conflict occurred. The main focus of this research is to determine the nature of the main characters and the conflicts they experience. This paper used Nurgiyantoro (2015) and Edgar V. Roberts and Hendry E. Jacobs (1995:135). The method used by the author in this research is qualitative description to obtain certain data by searching and collecting several source related to descriptions of main characters in movie. Then, the author watched the film repeatedly and quoted sentences or words that indicate the main characters and conflict. “Top Gun: Maverick” is an upcoming American action drama film directed by Joseph Kosinski, produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, Tom Cruise and David Ellison with a screenplay written by Peter Craig, Justin Marks, Christopher McQuarrie , and Eric Warren Singer. It is a sequel to Top Gun (1986) and stars Tom Cruise, Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell, Lewis Pullman, and Ed Harris, with Cruise and Val Kilmer returning to their roles from the first film.
