Perancangan Ulang Troli Obat Perawat Menggunakan Metode Ergonomic Function Deployment (EFD) di Rumah Sakit Prof. Dr. Chairuddin P. Lubis
Redesign of the Nurse's Medicine Trolley Using the Ergonomic Function Deployment (EFD) Method at the Prof. Dr. Chairuddin P. Lubis Hospital
Abstract
Hospitals play a crucial role in public health systems, providing individual care services performed by nurses, including pre- and post-medical treatment. One of the critical facilities in this service is the medication trolley, which must be ergonomically designed to support cleanliness, comfort, safety, and usability. This research focuses on improving the design of the medication trolley at Prof. Dr. Chairuddin P. Lubis Hospital, which currently has a non-ergonomic design that can cause injuries to nurses and reduce the cleanliness of medications and medical equipment. Through interviews and direct observation, it was found that the medication trolley used has a height that does not match the nurses' body posture. This is reinforced by the assessment of nurses' working posture using the Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) method, which shows a high risk of injury. This condition can lower the quality of healthcare services provided and potentially cause negative impacts on patients and the hospital. Therefore, a redesign of the medication trolley using the Ergonomic Function Deployment (EFD) approach is necessary to meet the nurses' needs. This study aims to identify nurses' complaints about using the medication trolley and to redesign it according to anthropometric data and nurses' needs. The improvements include redesigning the dimensions of the medication trolley to fit the nurses' body posture, specifically a length of 68.033 cm, a width of 41.963 cm, a height of 105.992 cm, including a trolley handle diameter of 3.218 cm, as well as adding components like drawers, a worktable, an IV pole, a basket, and a trash bin. A 3D drawing of the Nurse Medication Trolley was then created using Solidworks 2016 software with these improved attributes. By implementing this ergonomic design, it is expected to create an effective, comfortable, safe, and healthy posture for nurses while ensuring clean and organized conditions for medications and medical tools, thereby improving the quality of healthcare services at Prof. Dr. Chairuddin P. Lubis Hospital
