Background: Rambutan seed extract contains flavonoids, which are secondary metabolites that act as antioxidants or ward off free radicals. Moisturizer is a form of cosmetics that plays a role in hydrating the skin by reducing the evaporation of water from the skin and drawing water from the air into the stratum corneum which can increase skin moisture. Objective: To formulate a handbody lotion containing rambutan seed extract that meets the evaluation requirements and is effective in increasing skin moisture. Method: Rambutan seed simplicia was made by drying, followed by simplicia screening. Rambutan seed extraction was carried out using the maceration method using 70% ethanol. Handbody lotion formulation with several concentrations of rambutan seed extract (F0: blank; F1: 0.5%; F2: 1%; and F3: 1.5%). Evaluation of handbody lotion preparations consists of organoleptic observations, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, spreadability, lotion type, irritation test, moisture test and stability test. The physical stability tests carried out were cycling tests (4°C and 40°C ± 2°C), storage at room temperature (25℃±2℃), accelerated storage at low temperature (4°C ± 2°C) and high temperature (40°C ± 2°C). Results: Rambutan seed simplicia contains secondary metabolite compounds in the form of flavonoids, tannins and alkaloids. The handbody lotion produced was yellow, has a distinctive smell, was homogeneous, pH 6.1-7.01, spreadability 5.3-6.8 cm, viscosity 2061.00-9320.67 cP, emulsion type O/W, no irritating, effective as a moisturizer with average humidity F0: blank; F1: 0.5%; F2: 1%; and F3: 1.5% were 27.8±6.16 respectively; 29.95±7.83; 34.65±9.53; and 37.35 ± 10.78. Stable during 12 weeks of storage at room temperature, cycling test, and during storage at low and high temperatures. Conclusion: The ethanol extract of rambutan seeds can be formulated in handbody lotion preparations that are stable during storage and meet the requirements for evaluating the physical properties of lotion preparations.en_US
