Background: Stunting is a condition of growth and development failure experienced by children due to poor nutrition, repeated infections, and inadequate psychosocial stimulation. Children are said to be stunted if they have a z-score smaller than -2 SD. Cork fish is a source of protein that contains protein (25.2%), albumin (8.2%), calcium and has complete essential amino acids so that it can improve nutritional status. Temulawak, meniran and honey have compounds that can increase appetite and improve nutrient absorption.
Objective: To determine the effect of giving a combination of cork fish, ginger, meniran and honey syrup on increasing hemoglobin levels, total protein and relative weight of brain, heart and lung organs in stunted rats.
Methods: Testing of stunting model rats is done by feeding a low-protein diet for 14 days and measuring the length and weight of the rats. The rats were divided into 7 groups and continued with the administration of vitabumin syrup, empty syrup, normal feed, IGTMM syrup 0.675; 1.35; 2.7 ml/kgBB and low protein diet feed for 42 days. Hemoglobin, total protein and relative weight of brain, heart and lung organs were measured.
Results: The results showed that the administration of IGTMM syrup 0.675; 1.35; 2.7 ml/kgBB can increase hemoglobin levels, total protein and relative organ weight and have a curative effect on stunting that is comparable to normal rats and has a significant difference with the low protein diet group (p<0.05).
Conclusion: IGTMM syrup has an effect on increasing hemoglobin levels, total protein and relative organ weight in stunted rats.
