A Description of Figurative Language in Celine Dion Selected Songs

Abstract

This paper describe the types of figurative language found in Celine Dion's selected songs. In completing this paper, the writer uses a qualitative method. The steps in choosing the selected songs are by randomly selecting song titles to represent the meaning of the six songs contained in one album. Then the writer can find the types of figurative language contained in Celine Dion's song lyrics, namely metaphor, hyperbole, personification, simile, allusion, and irony. The most dominant figurative language contained in the song lyrics is metaphor. Through this paper, it is hoped that readers can understand the use of figurative language and the types of figurative language contained in this song so that the message to be conveyed can reach the listeners.
