Analisis Kualitas Sabun Mandi Cair dengan Penambahan Minyak Daun Eucalyptus Grandis sebagai Agen Antibakteri Staphylococcus Aureus
Quality Analysis of Liquid Body Wash with Addition of Eucalyptus Grandis Life Oil as an Antibacterial Agent for Staphylococcus Aureus
Abstract
Soap is one of the most important products in everyday life. The need for soap is increasing year by year, as shown in BPS data from 2016 to 2021. One type of soap is liquid body wash. Liquid body wash has several advantages compared to solid bath soaps. According to customer opinions, liquid body wash is more hygienic, more profitable, more practical, and more economical for the consumer, while the production of liquid body wash is also simpler and more profitable for manufacturers. The plant Eucalyptus grandis can be used as an antibacterial agent in certain formulations. The purpose of this study is to analyze the quality of liquid body wash with the addition of Eucalyptus grandis leaf oil as an antibacterial agent against Staphylococcus aureus and determine the best formulation according to the SNI quality criteria 06-4085-1996. The method of making liquid body wash with the addition of Eucalyptus grandis leaf oil is carried out by a hot process at a temperature of ±75°C. The production of liquid body wash is done with five formulations, namely formulations I, II, III, IV, and V. The quality analysis of liquid body wash includes several parameters, such as a pH test, a free alkaline test, a test of active ingredients for the soap base (fat acid quantity), and a type weight determination test adapted to the quality standard SNI 06-4085-1996. The best results of a liquid body wash with the addition of Eucalyptus grandis leaf oil are in formulation V with an addition of 0.5 g of Eucalyptus grandis oil. The test result is a pH value of 10,02, free alkali not detected, a fatty acid content of 31,2%, and a type weight of 1,0333 g/mL. According to the hedonic test results, formulation V gets a panel preference score of 4 on each scale of scent, color, and softness of foam. It also applies to testing antibacterial activity; the largest barrier zone diameter in formulation V is 23.1 mm against the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus.
