Acrylic resin is a commonly used denture material because it meets aesthetic factors and is cheap, but acrylic resin has the disadvantage of absorbing water. The ability of hot polymerized acrylic resin to absorb water can affect the physical properties of hot polymerized acrylic resin itself. Ginger drinks usually tend to be consumed by adults and the elderly. Ginger is very effective for preventing or curing various diseases because it contains gingerol which is a very strong anti-inflammatory and antioxidant. Red ginger contains phenol compounds that are acidic so it is also called carbolic acid. Phenol compounds can diffuse into acrylic resins and break the long chain of acrylic resin polymers resulting in physical damage, which can affect surface roughness. The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of immersion of acrylic artificial teeth in red ginger drink for 3 days (1 year), 5 days (1.5 years) and 7 days (2 years) on surface roughness. The design of this study is experimental. The samples in this study were acrylic artificial teeth from brand New Ace (conventional polymethylmethacrylate acrylic resin teeth) and Shofu, Livera (intra homogeneous polymer acrylic resin teeth). The number of samples was 40 samples divided into 4 treatment groups with 10 samples each. The samples were immersed in artificial saliva as control and red ginger drink for 3 days (1 year), 5 days (1.5 years) and 7 days (2 years). The results of calculations and measurements were analyzed using the Generalized Linear Model Repeated Measures (GLM-RM) test to see the effect of immersion of acrylic artificial teeth in red ginger drink for 3 days (1 year), 5 days (1.5 years) and 7 days (2 years). The results showed that there was an effect of immersion of acrylic artificial teeth in red ginger drink for 3 days (1 year), 5 days (1.5 years) and 7 days (2 years) on surface roughness with each value of p < 0.001 (p < 0.05). In this study it can be concluded that there is an effect of immersion of acrylic artificial teeth in red ginger drink on surface roughness.en_US
