Formulasi Serum Gel Asam Hialuronat dan Minyak Biji Kelor (Moringa Seed Oil) sebagai Anti Penuaan Dini pada Kulit
Formulation of Hyaluronic Acid and Moringa Seed Oil Gel Serum as An Anti-Aging Skin Treatment
Abstract
Background: The use of antioxidants from natural ingredients is an important factor to safely treat premature skin aging, one of which is by using moringa seed oil which is known to contain fatty acids, vitamins and flavonoid derivative compounds. Hyaluronic acid gel serum is one of the anti-aging preparations that are widely used, so the formulation of hyaluronic acid gel serum preparation and moringa seed oil as an anti-aging skin is an interesting thing to research.
Objective: This study aimed to formulate serum gel of hyaluronic acid and moringa seed oil and evaluate the physical quality and effectiveness of serum gel preparation of hyaluronic acid and moringa seed oil as anti-aging on the skin.
Methods: The research stages included antioxidant testing of moringa seed oil from two producers, namely producer A and producer B using the DPPH method, formulation and evaluation of serum gel preparations of hyaluronic acid and moringa seed oil. Hyaluronic acid and moringa seed oil serum gel was formulated with concentrations of moringa seed oil A, namely 0.25% (F1); 0.5% (F2); 1% (F3) and moringa seed oil B 0.5% (F4), hyaluronic acid serum gel without moringa seed oil (F5), and serum gel blank (F6). Evaluation of the physical quality of the preparation included homogeneity, spreadability, centrifugation, stability at room temperature for 12 weeks (including organoleptic, pH, and viscosity) and cycling test. Safety tests were carried out by conducting irritation tests and effectiveness tests of anti-aging serum gel preparations on the skin using a skin analyser with parameters of moisture, pores, blemishes, and wrinkles.
Results: Moringa seed oil producers A and B were classified as very strong antioxidants with IC50 values of 35.63 and 38.94 ppm, respectively. The hyaluronic acid and moringa seed oil serum gel preparation produced a homogeneous preparation, spreadability of 5-6.9 cm, pH 4.93-5.94, viscosity 1971-2537 cPs, stable, and not irritating to the skin. Hyaluronic acid and moringa seed oil 1% serum gel (F3) gave the best anti-aging effect for 4 weeks, namely increasing moisture by about 204.3%, reducing pore size by 77.7%, reducing blemishes by 73.1%, and reducing wrinkles by 69.1%, and there were significant differences (p<0.05) in hyaluronic acid serum gel (F5) and serum gel blank (F6).
Conclusion: Moringa seed oil producers A and B are very strong antioxidants. Hyaluronic acid and moringa seed oil can be formulated in a serum gel preparation that is stable and does not irritate the skin. The serum gel preparation of hyaluronic acid and moringa seed oil 1% gives a better anti-aging effect on the skin than the serum gel of hyaluronic acid.
