Pemberdayaan Masyarakat Miskin Kota dalam Meningkatkan Ketahanan Pangan (Studi Kasus: Pengembangan Kebun Juma Cindai di Kelurahan Cinta Damai Kecamatan Medan Helvetia Kota Medan)

Abstract

Community empowerment can be realized through active community participation which is facilitated by empowerment actions. The main targets of empowerment are those who are weak and do not have the power, strength or ability to access productive resources. The government and society build businesses and empowerment activities for poor communities. Juma Cindai Agro-education is located in Cinta Damai Kelurahan. The group uses empty land and converts it into valuable agro-education. The group was formed from hydroponic training carried out by the sub-district office for farmer groups and Family Welfare Empowerment (PKK) cadres. They transformed 800 meters of abandoned land into productive land called Juma Cindai Agroeducation. This research on empowering the society in medan uses a qualitative approach. Research information was obtained from informants consisting of the Kelurahan head and sub-district officials, members of Family Welfare Empowerment (PKK), Juma Cindai managers, community leaders and experts/academics. The results obtained from community empowerment carried out by Cinta Damai Kelurahan in developing the independence and welfare of its community by increasing knowledge, attitudes, ski/Ls, abilities, awareness, as well as utilizing resources in the agricultural sector have gone well. The preparation of community empowerment activity plans was carried out by inviting the PKK management of Cinta Damai Kelurahan and the Farmers Group (Poktan) in Cinta Damai Kelurahan area to hold meetings aimed at providing space for the community to be better empowered than before.
