| dc.description.abstract | The objective of the research is to analyze communication pattern in establishing
self-concept in young adults undergoing fatherless, self-transparency in young
adults, and communication inhibiting factor felt by young adults who are fatherless
in Medan. The theories used in this research are the theories of symbolic
interaction, self-concept, and self-transparency. The research uses qualitative
research method. The samples are 6 (six) young adults who undergo fatherless. The
result of the research shows that the absence of the father causes dysfunctional
communication pattern in the family which, in turn, influences various aspects of
life of the informants such as communication with environment and their selfconcept.
Of the six informants, four of them get difficulty in communication, have
low self-confidence, and tend to be pessimistic. Self-transparency is influenced by
internal and external motivation and the right situation and time. Their selftransparency
also depends on the intensity and serious relationship with other
people. Obstacles in communication in young adults psychological and
psychological noise obstacles caused by the loss of a father figure caused by death
and his absence in the informants ' childhood This condition establishes the feeling
of scare to be communicated and causes troubles in expressing their feelings. | en_US |
