He development of life from time to time, especially in the field of technology, which
is increasingly diverse and developing more rapidly. This can be concluded on the
basis of the reality that has been clearly seen in various social environments so far.
This situation means that many things can be done more easily and efficiently.
Nowadays, information or warnings must be quickly accessed, including
increasingly sophisticated measuring instruments. It would be very helpful if the
speed and accuracy of measuring instruments could be known quickly and
accurately. In this case, a tool will be made as an Arduino-based digital ruler. This
research describes the creation of a simulation tool for designing a bus passenger
count tool using a microcontroller-based photodiode sensor and IoT. The output
from this tool is sound and an LCD display resulting from measuring object
distances. In this research, the system development method used is the supporting
hardware used, Esp 8266, infrared sensor, LCD. The final result of this research is
a tool that can count the number of bus passengers and makes it easier to provide
direct information to bus drivers in calculating the number of bus passengers.
