Background: Congestive heart failure in indonesia is the second leading cause of
death after stroke. The increase in healthcare costs caused by medication usage rises
by approximately 10% each year. One approach in the field of pharmacoeconomics
used to evaluate and select the most cost effective therapy from various options is
Cost effectiveness Analysis.
Objective: The purpose of this study is to evaluate various antihypertensive therapy
models used in patients with Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) at Prof. Dr.
Chairuddin P. Lubis Educational Hospital, Universitas Sumatera Utara, the research
aims to determine the most cost effective antihypertensive therapy model at the
hospital.
Methods: The data collection was conducted retrospectively based on the medical
records of hospitalized Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) patients. From this data
collection, a sample of 85 patients who met the established inclusion criteria was
obtained.
Result: Based on the research findings, patients were grouped according to therapy
models, followed by an analysis to determine the most cost effective therapy within
each therapy group. The majority of patients (58.83%) were male, and the most
prevalent age group was >60 years (60%). According to the study, the combination
therapy of Beta Blocker (BB) + Diuretic proved to be the most cost effective with
the lowest CER value of Rp9.080.
Conclusion: The conclusion of this study is that there are 11 antihypertensive
therapy models used at Prof. Dr. Chairuddin P. Lubis Educational Hospital,
Universitas Sumatera Utara. Among these 11 models, the combination therapy of
Beta Blocker (BB) + Diuretic is the most cost effective antihypertensive group.
