Humans have limited cognitive resources; the more attention is diverted to secondary tasks, the worse the performance on the primary task. This study aims to determine the effect of listening to music on the electroencephalography (EEG) waves of motorcycle riders. The study involved sixteen students aged 21-23 years as participants. Participants were asked to complete two riding scenarios: riding without listening to music and riding while listening to music, each conducted for 11 minutes. The effect of music was measured based on alpha and beta waves as well as simulation evaluation results, while the quality of attention was based on the sensorimotor rhythm (SMR) or lower beta waves. Wave measurements were conducted by comparing pre-driving and post-driving events, performed 3 minutes before and 3 minutes after the simulation activities. Analysis was conducted using statistical tests, namely normality test and Wilcoxon test. The Wilcoxon test results for driving violations showed no average difference between the two scenarios, indicating that music does not affect rider performance. The study showed an increase in alpha waves in the scenario of riding while listening to music, indicating that music provides a focus-enhancing effect in a calm state of mind, helping to relieve stress without reducing rider alertness. For beta and lower beta waves, the Wilcoxon test results showed no average difference between the two events tested, indicating that music does not affect these waves, thus concluding that music does not influence rider focus and attention levelsen_US
