Background: This teratogenic test is intended to see the effect of a material on fetal development. One plant that can be used as a test of teratogenic effects for pregnant women is turmeric (Curcuma domestica Val.). Objective: This study aims to determine the teratogenic effect of curcuminoid VCO extract from turmeric rhizomes (Curcuma domestica Val.) which can cause teratogenic effects on the fetuses of female white rats. Methods: Curcuminoid VCO extract was obtained using the Microwave Assisted Extraction (MAE) method with VCO as solvent. Then curcuminoid identification was carried out from curcuminoid VCO extract with KLT. Teratogenic effect tests were carried out by giving test preparations to pregnant rats that had been divided into 5 groups, namely normal control groups, curcuminoid VCO extract at doses of 400, 800, 1000 mg / kg bw and positive control of Gabapentin 48 mg / kg bw, during the organogenesis period against external malformations. Results: Based on this study, administration of curcuminoid VCO extract from turmeric rhizomes in pregnant rats during the period of organogenesis at doses of 400, 800 and 1000 mg/kgBB caused teratogenic effects. At a dose of 400 mg / kg body weight experienced humpback body, while at the administration of extract at a dose of 800 mg / kg body experienced hemorrhagic and also humpback body. In the administration of curcuminoid VCO extract with the highest dose, which is 1000 mg / kg BB, micromelia is experienced. Conclusion: It can be concluded that the curcuminoid VCO extract Curcuma domestica Val. causes teratogenic effects against external malformations of female white rats administered during the period of organogenesis.en_US
