Kontiunitas dan Perubahan Silat Pelintau sebagai Warisan Budaya Masyarakat Melayu Tamiang di Kabupaten Aceh Tamiang

Abstract

Silat Pelintau is a traditional cultural heritage of the Tamiang Malay ethnic community which is rooted in local wisdom. After experiencing continuity in several periods starting from the pre colonialism period, the colonialism period, the independence period, the new order period, and up to the present, namely the globalization period. Silat Pelintau then underwent significant changes, namely becoming a performing art. The changes that occur are not only in the form of presentation, but also changes in function and use. Specifically, this research aims to determine exactly the sustainability and changes in the Silat Pelintau in the Tamiang Malay community over several periods in the Aceh Tamiang district. The research method used is qualitative research with a descriptive approach. The research results show that continuity itself aims to support a form of culture and the existence of cultural heritage through preservation measures which are difficult to realize after a certain period of time has passed. There are several problems with conservation efforts, which are closely related to changes in the form of ethnic culture, both in terms of function and use as well as very significant forms of presentation. Then continuity also results in changes in cultural heritage. The factors that cause changes in Silat Pelintau can be classified into two groups based on their sources, namely those located within and outside the community itself. and changes in silat pelintau in the Tamiang Malay Ethnic community have linked periods within a certain period of time up to the present.
