Land suitability is the level of suitability of a piece of land for a particular use. The
suitability of the land can be measured for current conditions or after improvements
have been made. Parapat Girsang Sipangan Bolon District is a tourist area that is
developing rapidly and has many facilities that support local tourism. On the other
hand, with the increasing population and the selection of Lake Toba as Indonesia's
main tourism destination, this can lead to competition for land use. Therefore, it is
necessary to carry out land suitability to find out whether the existing land is still in
accordance with the spatial pattern designation of Simalungun Regency and the
physical impacts resulting from land conversion. In this research, data processing was
carried out using the digitization method using GIS software, problem identification
was carried out using satellite imagery, then a field survey (Site Visit) was carried out.
Land suitability assessment is carried out using the matching method to match the
criteria for land suitability for tourism with land characteristics and then an analysis of
the physical impacts due to the land conversion that occurs is carried out. The results of
the analysis show that in 2024 there will be 19.3% conversion of protected forest land,
and 28.6% conversion of plantation land from that determined in the 2021-2026
Simalungun Regency spatial planning pattern
