dc.description.abstractBoric acid is one of the derivatives of boron minerals that has many uses in industries such as glass, ceramics, detergents, plastics, fertilizer agriculture, and textile industries. About 57% of the world's total boron mineral use is spent on the sector of the glass industry, mainly on the production of fiber glass. Boric acid is also used in agriculture, health, pharmacy, and electronics. The boric acid plant is designed with a production capacity of 75,000 tonnes per year using borax and sulphuric acid raw materials. In the plant, there are four main processes: raw material preparation, formation reaction process, separation process, and purification process. The products produced in the pre-planning of this plant are boric acid and by-products of sodium sulfate. The company in the pre-planned factory is planned in the form of a Limited Company (PT) using the organizational structure of the line and staff. The workforce in this factory is 170 people. The plant is planned to be located in Gresik District, East Java, Indonesia with an outer factory area of 25.042,04 m2. The water requirements of this plant are supplied from Kali Mireng River with a total water requirement of 117.714,71 kg/hour. For the establishment and operation of the factory requires investment capital of Rp 1.138.531.418.616,80 and production costs of Rp 1.303.594.604.732,18. Based on the eligibility analysis, the plant has a PM of 23,25%, BEP of 40,71%, ROI of 22,72%, a POT of 4,4 years, an RON of 37,87%, and an IRR of 32,77%. From the results of economic analysis, it can be concluded that the preliminary of a plant to make boric acid from borax and sulphuric acid using this acidification process is worthy of establishmenten_US
