Worker Motivation in Building Construction Projects of (Multipurpose and Commercial) MSME Collaboration Square University of North Sumatera
Abstract
Construction industry in Indonesia is experiencing growth supported by the government, in this industry human resources hold an important role because construction industry depends on human labour. Motivation is one of the things that influence work performance in construction industry. A good work performance is required especially on multi years project that have a long period of time to finish.
This research aim to know what is the dominant factor that can provide motivation and demotivation to construction workers, so they can maintain a good performance on building construction project of UMKM Square University of North Sumatera. Using quantitive methods relative importance index (RII) based on questionnaire with four measuring scale, then the motivation and demotivation factors is analyzed to find the most dominant factor.
From the research result can be known that the dominant factor that influence work motivation is physiological needs wages received on time with RII score 0,947. On the other side, the dominant factor that influence work demotivation is bad communication with RII score 0,795
