This research aims to reveal the instincts of the main characters in the animated film Puteri Limau based on literary psychology theory. The research method used is qualitative descriptive theory. The results of this research state that in terms of intrinsic elements there is a theme in the film, namely good cooperation creates family harmony in facing problems. There are 8 characters and characterizations in the film, namely Puteri Limau Manis, Puteri Limau Kasturi, Puteri Limau Bali, Puteri Limau Purut, Puteri Limau Nipis, Raden Pateh, Patek. The plot in this film is a forward plot. The setting contains 6 data, namely forest, room, kitchen, garden, yard, hall. The time background consists of 1 data, namely morning. and the socio-cultural background contained in the film shows historical works on life during the kingdom, namely the life of a king and his family at that time. The point of view used in the film is third person. The message contained in the film is something that is incomparable, namely harmony in the family. However, in doing this, don't feel like you are competing with each other because as humans we have to remind each other that hatred should not be met with hatred, but rather prove that everything has been determined by God. The personality dynamics in this film contain a classification of emotions totaling 21 data which shows happiness 10, sadness 2, fear 6, anger 2, feeling guilty 1. Furthermore, defense and conflict mechanisms totaling 19 data which shows 1 rationalization, 2 sublimation, 3 formation , 1 regression, 1 diversion, 1 repression, and the emotions that change are 9 happiness, 2 sadness, 1 fear, 1 feeling guilty. Thus, the main character in this film has a life instinct in carrying out his days.
