Hubungan Pola Asuh Orang Tua dengan Tindakan Bullying pada Remaja di SMP YPAK Sei Karang Kecamatan Galang Kabupaten Deli Serdang

Abstract

Bullying behavior in Indonesia ranks fifth in the number of cases at the junior high school level. One of the factors contributing to bullying behavior is the parenting style provided by parents to their children. This study aims to identify the relationship between parenting styles and bullying behavior among adolescents at YPAK Junior High School Sei Karang, Galang District, Deli Serdang Regency. The population in this study comprises all students of YPAK Junior High School Sei Karang, Galang District, Deli Serdang Regency. The sample consists of 78 students, selected using Probability Sampling with the Proportionate Random Sampling technique. The study found that the most commonly applied parenting style by the parents of the students was democratic, and'the bullying behavior that occurred was generally mild, with verbal bullying being the most frequent type. Bivariate analysis using the Chi-square test indicated a relationship between parenting styles and bullying behavior among adolescents at YPAK Junior High School Sei Karang, Galang District. The conclusion of this study is that parenting styles can influence bullying behavior among adolescents. The study recommends that the Department of Education pay more attention to each school to implement programs similar to those at YPAK Junior High School, such as conducting joint religious activities according to each student's beliefs and disseminating information about the dangers of bullying behavior to students.
