The Correlation of Family Suppart and Eating Pouems among Elderly with Hypertension in Pardugul Village, Somosir Regency
Abstract
Hypertension is the main cause of cardiovasc11lar disease worldwide, and the elderly are the most susceptible. Most people with hypertension do not show symptoms or have vague or non-spec[fic symptoms. One of the risk factors for hypertension is uncontrolled coting patterns and lock of family support. This research aims to determine the correlation of family support and eating patterns of elderly with hypertension in Pardugul Village. Samosir Regency. A descriptive correlation design with a cross-sectional approach is used in this research. The sample in this research is 77 elderly with hypertension. The sampling technique is a non-probability sampling technique using the total sampling method. The research instrument uses a family support questionnaire and Food Frequency Questionnaires. both tested for validity and
reliability. Data analysis uses the Spearman's correlation test. The results at this research indicate that 51.9% of elderly people with hypertension receive good family support and 80.5% with a good diet. Based on data analysis. a correlation value of 0.00/ < 0.05 is obtained so Ha is accepted. The conclusion of this research is that there is a correlation between family support and the diet of elderly people with hypertension
in Pardugul Village, Samosir Regency. The suggestion of this research is that health workers provide education about the importance of family support maintaining a healthy diet to control the blood pressure of elderly people with hypertension.
