dc.description.abstract | The objective of the research is to find out the evaluation on the activities of digital media transfer in the library of UNIMED (Medan Public University) which includes 3 (three) stages: digital media pre-transfer, digital media transfer, and digital media post-transfer. The research uses descriptive qualitative method. The data are gathered by conducting interview, observation, literature study, and documentation. There are five informants: three staffs of library automation, a coordinator of library automation, and a staff preservation of literature materials. The data consist of primary data and secondary data which are analyzed by using data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusion. The research also uses triangulation of source of data, method, and theory. The result of the research shows that in the stage of pre-transfer, students hand in their printed theses, and the library clarifies by using dewey decimal classification (DDC), edition 22. They are then put on the shelves according to the names of department and faculty. Since the shelves are limited, the management develops it by using digital media transfer. In the stage of digital media transfer, students hand in their theses in the form of softcopy (CD), Working on a thesis in the stage of digital media post-transfer takes a long time so that students do self-uploading their scientific writing by following the format which has been determined by the library management. | en_US |
