Groundwater is an important natural resource, especially fresh groundwater for coastal communities. However, with rising sea levels causing fresh groundwater to be increasingly influenced by seawater intrusion. Medan Belawan District is a coastal area which is influenced by tides and also by economic activities including the establishment of industrial centers from small to large scale, as well as excessive exploitation of groundwater, creating the issue of reducing the quality of groundwater due to seawater intrusion in the area. the study area becomes brackish or salty. This research aims to determine the physical and chemical quality of water, and look at the hydrogeochemical characteristics of groundwater using the piper and kurlov methods. Several procedures in this research include two test parameters, namely physical parameters which include smell, color, taste, electrical conductivity (DHL) and total dissolved solids (TDS) and chemical parameters of degree of acidity (pH). Hydrogeochemical analysis is carried out to determine the chemical composition of water from an aquifer that occurs in groundwater and determine the name of groundwater based on the mole equivalent value per liter of each ion. The results of the physical parameter analysis show that the research groundwater is colorless, tasteless and odorless, the largest temperature is 30oC, the largest total dissolved solids is 237.5 mg/l, and the largest electrical conductivity is 692 μS/cm, while the results chemical parameter test, namely pH of 8.3. The test results show that the quality of groundwater in the parameters of color, taste, odor, temperature, DHL, TDS and pH in the coast of Medan Belawan District meets quality standards in accordance with Government Regulation Number 22 of 2021. Based on piper analysis, the type of groundwater in the area research is the Ca+Mg groundwater facies type. The Ca+Mg groundwater facies type refers to a type of geological depositional environment in which there is an accumulation of deposits rich in calcium (Ca) and magnesium (Mg) in groundwater or water environments. Meanwhile, the classification of groundwater based on the Kurlov method has 2 names, namely Magnesium Bicarbonate Mg (HCO3)2 and Calcium Bicarbonate Ca (HCO3)2en_US
