The use of jengkol peel which contains phytochemical compounds as a precursor in making carbon dots using the hydrothermal method, and with the addition of sodium disulfite as sulfur doping has been carried out. Synthesis of CDs and S CDs used jengkol bark powder as a precursor and sodium disulfite as a sulfur source, at a ratio of 1:1 using the hydrothermal method at a temperature of 200˚C for 8 hours. Tests with a 365 nm UV lamp showed bluish green fluorescence, and analysis using a UV Vis spectrophotometer showed absorbance of CDs at a wavelength of 289 nm and S CDs at a wavelength of 295 nm. The FTIR spectrum of CDs and S CDs shows the presence of O H groups, C=O groups and the presence of C S groups. PL analysis each produces emission peaks at wavelengths of 463 nm and 497 nm, which indicates a wavelength shift towards red (red shift). The particle size distribution from TEM analysis gives an average particle diameter value of 3.14 nm for CDs, and 5.94 nm for S CDs. The Quantum Yield (QY) values obtained were 4.9% and 0.4% respectively.en_US
