Personality Structure Analysis of Farhah on the Film فرحة /Farḥah/ by Darin J. Sallam
Abstract
The problems in the research include the personality of the character Farhah in the
film فرحة /Farḥah/ by Darin J. Sallam, the personality of the character Farhah. The
purpose of this study is to analyze and describe the personality of Farhah characters
using a literary psychology approach. This research is a library research using a
qualitative descriptive method, the approach used is a literary psychology approach
using Sigmund Freud's theory. Data was collected using documentation techniques,
namely screenshots on each snippet and the method of looking at notes on data in the
form of conversations. The research results show that three personality elements
appear in the character Farhah. The three elements of personality contained in the
film فرحة /Farḥah/ include id, ego and super ego. Farhah's id personality was obtained
from 15 pieces of data, among which there is the pleasure of reading books and
imagining that she can go to school in the city, the fear of being abandoned by her
father and other basic motivations such as thirst. Farhah's ego-shaped personality was
obtained from 20 data, among which is her decision to resign herself when her father
does not allow Farhah to go to school in the city and cries when she accepts reality.
Farhah's super ego personality was obtained from 24 data, among which there is
control of her actions when serving guests, obeying her father's requests, refusing
pain, and others. The conclusion obtained from this study is that Farhah's personality
structure is mostly dominated by ego and super ego elements, this is because it
upholds the norms of goodness and conscience that thinks fully considering good
values, and can decide the right course of action.
