    Abstract
Tuberculosis is one of the transmitted diseases which kills a lot of people throughout the world. Adherence to taking medicine becomes the main factor in curing it. Low level of adherence to taking medicine can cause high incidence and mortality rates of tuberculosis patients and the risk of patient resistance to medicine also increases. The purpose of the research is to find out the level of adherence to OAT in tuberculosis patients at Public Health Center of Hamparan Perak Sub district, Deli Serdang Regency. The data are collected by distributing questionnaires on Medication Adherence Report Scale (MARS-5). The population is 143 patients who visited Public Health Center since January to September, 2023, and /05 of them are used as the samples, taken by using accidental sampling technique. The research uses descriptive quantitative method. The data are analyzed by using univariate analysis and presenting frequency distribution in the form of Tables and percentages. The result of the research shows that 97 respondents (92.4%) are in the category of high adherence and 8 respondents (7.6%) are in the category of low adherence. These data show that the majority of tuberculosis patients in Hamparan Perak Sub district have high adherence to taking medicines. It is recommended that the next researchers analyze other factors which motivate high level of adherence to taking medicines in tuberculosis patients.
