The Level of Anxiety in Pulmonary Tuberculosis Patients at Hamparan Perak Puskesmas, Deli Serdang Regency
Abstract
Tuberculosis and anxiety constitute a general condition which influences individual and public health. Both of them have a syndemic correlation which indicates the appearance of tuberculosis which is often followed by their health disorders such as anxiety in the patients. The objective of this research is to find out the level of anxiety in pulmonary tuberculosis patients at Hamparan Perak Puskesmas, Deli Serdang Regency. The research uses a descriptive quantitative method. The samples are 105 respondents, taken by using an accidental sampling technique. The research instruments consists of demographic characteristics data and Zung Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) questionnaire. The data are analyzed by using univariate data analysis and frequency distribution presented in the form of tables and presentation. The results of the research shows that 49,5% of the respondents undergo mild level of anxiety. 31,4% of the respondents undergo normal anxiety. 15,2% of the respondents undergo moderate level of anxiety. It is recommended for the next researchers to analyze deeply the anxiety undergone by pulmonary tuberculosis patients, the factors which cause it, and the ways to handle it.
