Background: Phubbing is a condition where an individual hurts their interlocutor by ignoring those around them or with them by excessively concentrating on their phone. Phubbing can be found when a person is addicted to social media. Objective: To analyze the relationship between social media use and phubbing behavior among adolescents at SMA Negeri 1 Tanah Jawa. Method: The research design used a quantitative approach with a descriptive correlational method, involving 153 respondents selected through quota sampling, and data analysis using Pearson’s r test. The research instruments included the Social Media Addiction Scale and the Generic Scale of Phubbing. Results: The study found that respondents had very high social media addiction, with 145 (94,8%) showing high levels and 135 (88,2%) demonstrating very high phubbing behavior. The Pearson statistical test showed a p-value of 0.00 (p<0.05) with r = 0.59. Conclusion: The higher the use of social media, the higher the phubbing behavior. There is a relationship between social media use and phubbing behavior among adolescents at SMA Negeri 1 Tanah Jawa.
