Design of an Arduino-Based Oil and Water Separator in CPO Processing
Abstract
Crude oil (cruide oil) which first goes through several processing
stages. One of them is the speration process. At the initial stage,
speration is carried out by flowing crude oil into a separator.
Separator is a device designed to separate oil with suspended solids
from water. In general, operating sperators utilize the differential
gravity between oil and water. Oil has a lighter specific gravity than
water. Therefore, with enough time, the mixture between oil and water
will separate into two layers, namely the oil layer floating above the
water layer. The separation process is controlled by adjusting the
water level in the separator so that it does not exceed a specified limit.
This limit prevents water from passing through the oil-containing gaps
in the separator. From the description of the problems that have been
described in the background, the author makes a formulation that can
solve these problems, among others: 1. How to detect oil and water in
the separotor tube 2. How to separate oil and water using a valve
control system To be more focused on the problems that have been
described, the authors make a limitation as follows: 1. Separator size
that will be designed miniature scale. 2. Separator is used as a
processing tool for separating oil and water.
