In electric power systems, electrical system disturbances such as short circuits and overloads can occur. Short circuit can be caused by many factors such as insulation failure due to excessive heat or humidity, mechanical damage to equipment and failure to use protection equipment. Protection relays are very important in power systems in preventing major losses due to unnecessary equipment outages or unnecessary equipment damage occurring due to short circuit faults. So, to get maximum and reliable service, a proper protection coordination is needed. Protection coordination or overcurrent protection coordination is carried out by setting the tms (time multiplier setting) and ps (plug setting) parameters on each relay. Along with technological developments, methods for determining the value of tms and ps are also increasingly numerous. In this final project, we will discuss the optimization of tms and ps values by selecting the curve type with a combined Genetic Algorithm and Non Linear Programming method on the PT. INALUM electricity network to get tms and ps values so that the relay working time is getting smaller. The results of this final project show that the combined Genetic Algorithm and Non Linear Programming method is effective enough to get the value of tms and ps so that a small relay working time is obtained
