Analysis of Workload as a Basis for Determining The Number of Employees in The Warehouse Department at PT Gold Coin Indonesia, Medan
Abstract
Workload refers to the activities performed by employees to complete tasks or obligations associated with a job or group of positions within a specified timeframe. This study was conducted at PT Gold Coin Indonesia in Medan, a company engaged in the animal feed industry, where there is an imbalance in overtime hours due to employee allocation in each department not being based on workload. The research focuses on analyzing the workload of staff with a relatively high overtime ratio, specifically in the warehouse department, which has 184.6 hours/person. The aim of this study is to analyze employee working hours using the work sampling method and to balance the workload by analyzing the required number of employees in the warehouse department using the Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) method. The results indicate that the effective working days in a year are 284 days and the effective working hours are 1689 hours for a six-day workweek. Through the work sampling method, it was found that in the warehouse department, the proportion of productive activities is 80.29%, non-productive activities are 5.89%, and personal activities are 13.82%, with an allowance of 15%. Based on the workload measurement in the warehouse department using the Full-Time Equivalent method, there are employees with both underload and overload workloads.
