This research discusses the use of aizuchi in Naoko Yamada’s Tamako Love Story
anime video. The purpose of this study is to describe the type, function and
meaning of aizuchi in the conversation of the anime Tamako Love Story. This
research uses descriptive qualitative method. Data collection techniques used
listening, documentation and note-taking techniques. This research uses the
theory of pragmatics. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method. The
data collection technique uses listening, documentation and note-taking
techniques. The data source in this study is the speech of Tamako and speech
partners in the anime video Tamako Love Story, in the form of conversations or
speech that contains aizuchi. The results found 34 data of aizuchi expressions,
aizuchi used by the characters in Naoko Yamada’s anime Tamako Love Story
using the types responsives, exclamations, Sou-type, adverbs, adjectives,
repetitions, preemptive. Based on the aizuchi function, there are functions of
Expressions of sensitivity, signals of denial, Newsmarkers, signals of agreement,
signals that you are listening, signals that you understand and fillers. A frequently
used function is Expression of sensitivity. Based on the meaning of an approval
mark, listening sign, sympathy for the speaker can show expressions of feelings in
the form of shock, happy, sad, and angry.
