dc.description.abstractIn the non-food industry, stearic acid is used as a raw material for the production of methyl ester, soap, and detergent, as well as a raw material for rubber vulcanization. The preliminary design of stearic acid manufacturing plant using Refined Bleached Deodorized Palm Stearin (RBDPS) as the raw material is planned with a capacity of 3,000 tons/year and will operate for 330 days a year. The plant is planned to be located in Batubara Regency, North Sumatra. The purpose of the stearic acid plant design is to apply chemical engineering knowledge, including mass balance, energy balance, equipment specifications, chemical engineering operations, utilities, and other aspects of chemical engineering. Total invesment capital : Rp. 109.900.586.921 Production cost : Rp. 58.169.488.343 Sales revenue : Rp. 100.513.769.272 Net profit : Rp. 29.547.791.667 Profit margin : 41,92 % Break even point : 35,47 % Return on investment : 27,29 % Pay out time : 3,66 Tahun Return on network : 45,48 % Internal rate of return : 25,80% From the results of the economic analysis, it can be concluded that the stearic acid manufacturing plant using Refinied Bleached Deodorized Palm Stearin (RBDPS) through hydrogenatioin process is feasible to be establisheden_US
