Analisis Semiotika Gaya Komunikasi Gibran Rakabuming Raka pada Tayangan Debat Calon Wakil Presiden 2024

Abstract

This research is entitled “Semiotic Analysis of Gibran Rakabuming Raka’s Communication Style in the 2024 Vice Presidential Candidate Debate”. This research aims to determine the meaning of signs and the communication styles used by Gibran Rakabuming Raka in the broadcast of the 2024 Vice Presidential Candidate Debate. The paradigm used in this research is the constructivism paradigm with Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotic analysis theory which is then associated with the communication style of Edward T. Hall and Stewart L. Tubbs and Sylvia Moss. The method used in this research is a descriptive qualitative method with mass communication. The results showed that there were four signs that Gibran often showed in the debate shows such as physical movements, use of clothing, facial expressions and Gibran's speech. The communication style used by Gibran in the debate show is a low context communication style because it often uses explicit messages and straightforward messages. Gibran's communication style also includes the controlling style, because it shows a desire to control others.
