Coalition Formation Strategy in Winning the Election (Case Study Bobby Nasution - Aulia Rahman Medan City 2020 Medan City Election)
Abstract
This thesis is motivated by the presidential and vice presidential
candidate pair Prabowo and Gibran, apart from receiving support from political
parties with a large number of seats in parliament, the Prabowo-Gibran pair
were also able to get involved directly on social media, especially Instagram
social media which has 15.2 thousand followers are intensively carrying out their
political campaigns on social media, and have uploaded as many as 280 posts.
This research uses a qualitative descriptive method, namely research that aims
to present facts and events systematically and accurately and analyze their truth
based on data obtained in the field. Data collection techniques in this research
are interview techniques and library research.
Based on the results of research and discussion, the factors in Bobby and
Aulia's victory emphasized the use of offensive strategies and defensive
strategies. The Offensive Strategy (Attack Strategy) used by the supporting
coalition parties is to carry out consolidation between the supporting parties,
forming a winning team, socializing the vision and mission, personal branding in
the mass media as well as making strikers, putting up billboards/banners.
Defensive Strategy (Defensive Strategy) is a strategy used to retain existing
voters and also add new voters. The supporting coalition parties carry out
campaigns to mobilize voters. Strategy related to the supporting party coalition
process.
