Communication Ethics in Social Media Tiktok as a Media of Interaction for Students at the University of North Sumatra
Abstract
This research is entitled "Communication Ethics in social media of Tiktok as a medium
of interaction for students at the University of North Sumatra". The purpose of this
research is to find out the communication ethics of USU students in using social media
of Tiktok. The theory used in this research is Communication Ethics, Communication
Ethics in using Social Media, Social Interaction, and Social Media. The research
method used in this research is qualitative research. The data in this research was
obtained through in-depth interviews and observations through informant profiles and
content on Tiktok. The validity of the data is obtained through data source triangulation
techniques. There were six informants in this study using purposive sampling
techniques. The research results show that a person's communication ethics are not
influenced by social media but return to their self-awareness. The informant has good
communication ethics in using Tiktok, such as sharing informative types of content with
a good language and easy for their followers to understand. The informant has full
awareness not to be influenced by negative content on Tiktok.
