Komposisi Hasil Tangkapan dan Tingkat Keramahan Lingkungan Alat Tangkap Purse Seine yang Dioperasikan di Pelabuhan Perikanan Nusantara Sibolga, Provinsi Sumatera Utara

Abstract

The fishing gear predominantly operated by fishermen at the Nusantara Fishing Port of Sibolga is the purse seine. The purse seine is a multi-species fishing gear. The high diversity of catches raises concerns about the potential threat to the sustainability of various marine species. The use of fishing gear plays a crucial role in the continued conservation of fishery resources. The analysis of environmental friendliness is assessed based on several environmental friendliness parameters according CCRF. The aim of the research is to determine the composition of the catch species using purse seine fishing gear and to analyze the environmental friendliness of the purse seine gear operated at the Nusantara Fishing Port of Sibolga. This research was conducted in March 2024 using survey methods, interviews, and direct field questionnaires. The secondary data collected in this research include the TKPU records for March 2024. During the research period, the catch composition comprised 19 species from a total of 38 trips, with 80% of the catch being the main target species and 20% being bycatch. The analysis results indicate that the purse seine fishing gear is categorized as less environmentally friendly.
