Design and Detection of Stunting Disease in Toddler Based on Arduino Uno
Abstract
Reducing stunting in children is the first of 6 goals in the global nutrition targets for 2025 and is a key indicator in the second sustainable development goal, namely hunger. Meanwhile, monitoring growth in toddlers is usually only carried out at posyandu. Technological developments have contributed to making monitoring easier by measuring the height and weight of toddlers. In this research, a tool has been designed to detect stunting through Arduino Uno-based height measurement. This stunting detection tool uses the HCSR-04 sensor to detect the height of toddlers. This tool is equipped with several other components, such as an Arduino Uno as a data controller, an adapter as a current source for the device, a keypad for inputting the age of toddlers, and a buzzer as a warning sound indicator for the detection of stunting disease which is displayed on the LCD. The test results on the HCSR-04 sensor and compared with conventional height measuring instruments or (stature meters) show a % deviation of between 0.2 – 0.8%. This shows that the tool that has been designed has quite good performance. The results of testing on 5 toddlers showed that 2 out of 5 children were detected as stunting. The tool that has been designed can be used to detect stunting using height parameters.
