The purpose of this writing is to examine further about Izanagi and Izanami which are Japanese folk tales about the creation of the universe according to Shinto mythology. The method used in this writing is a descriptive writing method, and data collection techniques are carried out through reading literature or written sources such as books, articles related to Izanagi and Izanami. The data obtained shows that Izanagi and Izanami, are gods and goddesses who emerged from the cosmic ocean, Ame-no-nuboko, given the task by the supreme god to create the islands of Japan. The forms of Izanagi and Izanami's descendants are islands, the first children born are weak, ugly and without bones. He is the god Hiruko (later Ebisu). Izanagi and Izanami created another perfect Japanese island in sequence, namely Awaji, Shikoku, Oki, Kyushu (Tsukushi), Iki, Tsushima, Sado, and finally Honshu (Yamato). Onokorojima Shrine as a place of offerings to the Gods Izanagi and Izanami has the role of giving blessings to each couple to live a healthy and long life. The main differences between Izanagi and Izanami are the gender of the creation myth of the tragic end of life of the goddess Izanami, the role in creation, as well as the influence of existence on Shintoism. This story not only depicts the physical creation of Japan but also teaches values about love, loyalty, and the consequences of disobeying divine warnings.en_US
