Innovation of A Non-Bacterial Water Sterilizer Using Reverse Osmosis and Ultraviolet Light Based Internet of Things
Abstract
Water has become one of the most important basic needs for humans and the environ-ment.Nowadays, access to the need for decent drinking water is difficult to obtain in some areas. A tool has been designed and implemented to ensure that water is afford-able and easy to obtain. To determine the water worth consuming, this device has been designed with a number of sensors that detect the parameters that are criteria for wa-ter worth drinking. The water criteria are non-coloured, not in high temperatures, and have a water pH range of 6.5 to 8.5. Sensors used to read such criteria such as pH sensors, Turbidity sensors and temperature sensors. The reverse osmosis (RO) system and ultraviolet rays are also present in this device that aims to filter and kill the bac-teria in the water. The sterilization process includes the reverse Osmosis system (RO), which has five phases of filtration and a system to kill bacteria using two tubes of UV rays. After the sterilization process takes place, the system will read the parameters contained in the water and send them to the lcd display and the Blynk app on the smartphone. If the results of the readings do not cover the criteria of drinkable water (pH < 6 / > 8.5, stiffness > 5 NTU and temperature 35 °C) then the system will send a notification message to the device email that the water is not drinkable and the system automatically shuts down immediately. The measurement results of PDAM water after passing this sterilization phase include several parameter values: 1.29 NTU, Color 1.8 TCU, Soluble Solid (TDS) 73.8 mg/L, Fluoride < 0.02 mg/ L, Nitrate (NO3) 1.9 mg/ l, Chromium Valensium 6 0.002 mg / L, Nitrite (NO2) 0.026 mg / l, Arsenic (As) 0.000031 mg /L, Cadmium (Cd) 0.0026255 mg/l, Aluminum (Al) 0.094299 mg / litre, Iron (Fe) 0.019477 mg/litre, Manganese (Mn) 0.064659 mg / Litre, Timber (Pb) 0.026595 mg/ Litres, Total Coliform 0U/100mL, E.Coli CFU/100ml and odourless. Based on the results of the laboratory tests according to Permenkes No. 2 Year 2023 (Drinking Water) water is drinkable.
