The imbalance between waste production and management remains a significant issue. Addressing this problem requires the engagement of various stakeholders to minimize waste production and improve waste management. Waste reduction activities at the source are crucial for effective waste management. This study seeks to assess the nature and effectiveness of waste management programs in the Bahorok Subdistrict, identify supportive and inhibiting factors, and know the strategies to improve domestic waste management in the Bahorok Subdistrict through the Hexa Helix collaboration model. The study employed a mixed qualitative and quantitative approach with a case study framework. Data was gathered through interviews, field observations, questionnaire distribution, Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), documentation, and literature review. The results revealed that waste reduction practices in the Bahorok Sub-district encompassed recycling and reusing organic (household) and inorganic waste (LDPE, HDPE). Various factors influencing waste management in the district were identified, including regulations, funding, institutional capacity, infrastructure, stakeholder collaboration, community involvement, and awareness. The results of the analysis of the success indicators of the Hexa Helix model show that the Hexa Helix model in Bahorok Sub-district can be implemented through a bottom-up approach starting from the village government level by being initiated by the community either directly or through community organizations (NGOs). Following a SWOT analysis, the recommended strategy for improving waste management in the Bahorok Sub-district is a proactive, growth-oriented approach, as the district is well-positioned to leverage existing opportunities
