As a rapidly developing city, Medan City is not exempt from problems faced in development, one of which is flooding. Flooding is a serious problem that can disrupt the lives of the community and damage infrastructure. Flooding occurs due to high rainfall intensity, population density which reduces the land's ability to absorb rainwater, and inadequate drainage infrastructure, such as the case in Jalan Perjuangan, Medan Perjuangan District, Medan City. This study aims to evaluate the performance of the existing drainage in Jalan Perjuangan, Medan Perjuangan District, Medan City in order to address the frequent flooding problems in the area. The research methodology includes the collection of primary and secondary data, as well as hydrological and hydraulic analysis to determine the feasibility of the existing drainage system. Rainfall data from the last ten years were used for analysis. Additionally, this study identifies the causes of flooding and provides solutions to improve drainage performance. The results show that the current drainage system is not optimal in handling floods. Several factors affecting drainage performance include garbage accumulation and inappropriate drainage design. The evaluation results indicate that Channel 1 receives a flood discharge of 12.553 m³/s, while the channel capacity is only 2.836 m³/s, making it unsafe. Meanwhile, Channel 2 can accommodate a flood discharge of 10.765 m³/s with a channel capacity of 13.91 m³/s, making it safe. The proposed solutions include redesigning the channels, regular cleaning, and increasing community awareness of the importance of maintaining clean drainage systems. The improvement for Channel 1 involves enlarging the channel dimensions with a rectangular cross-section made of concrete, with a channel depth of 2.618 m and a channel width of 3.394 m. This research is expected to benefit the local government and community in planning and managing more effective drainage systems in the future, thereby reducing the risk of flooding in Jalan Perjuangan, Medan Perjuangan District, Medan Cityen_US
