Boat Lift Net is one of the active fishing gears on the Western Coast of North Sumatera with the main catch being Sardinella. Fishermen from Boat Lift Net fishing gear still use traditional methods in the form of natural signs at certain times to find fish. This has an impact on the effectiveness of fishing less accurately. This study aims to determine the potential fishing grounds of Sardinella by analyzing the value of oceanographic parameters such as sea surface temperature, chlorophyll-a, sea surface currents, and sea surface wind obtained from Aqua-MODIS satellite images. The value analysis results are made into a map of the distribution of each parameter on the Western Coast of North Sumatera, and determine the correlation between the distribution results and the catch per unit effort of Sardinella. This method of determining potential fishing grounds produces accurate regional coordinates based on oceanographic relationships with the catch per unit effort of Sardinella on the Western Coast. The results of the analysis of oceanographic parameters show that the potential fishing grounds of Sardinella for 2018-2022 are located at the coordinates of 91020” N – 98000” E and perpendicular horizontally and vertically from Tuangku Island, Mursala Island, Nias Island and Pini Island.
