    Abstract
Home Lighting Automation System Based on Light Sensor and Timer Using PLC and Visual Basic is an automation system as in general where processes or procedures are carried out without or with human assistance. This research aims to design and develop a home lighting automation system that is operated based on light sensors and timers using a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and Visual Basic. There are three main objectives in this research: first, designing a light automation system activated by timers and light sensors; second, integrating PLC with Visual Basic to develop the automation system; third, setting the control logic to turn on and off the lights according to the inputs from timers and light sensors. The research method used is the waterfall method, which includes the stages of requirements analysis, system design, implementation, testing, and maintenance. In the stage of requirements analysis, the required components were identified, including the light sensor, timer, PLC, and Visual Basic software. System design includes designing the architecture and control logic that integrates the light sensor and timer with the PLC and Visual Basic interface. Implementation is done by building hardware and software according to the design that has been made. Testing is done to ensure that the system functions as expected. The last stage is maintenance, where the system is monitored and repaired if there are problems. The results show that the designed light automation system is able to regulate house lights automatically with the help of timers and light sensors integrated with PLC. The integration between PLC and Visual Basic was successful, allowing easy and efficient control through a user-friendly interface. The conclusion of this research is that a home lighting automation system using PLC and Visual Basic can improve energy efficiency and the comfort of home occupants with more automated and controlled lighting operations.
