Abstract
The research objective is to examine the information search behavior of Notarial Law Master’s students at North Sumatra University. This study employs the descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The research data are collected

look at other references that may be used; thirdly, in the browsing stage, they search for information through the internet or by visiting libraries; fourth, in the monitoring stage, they aim to be up to date in terms of the information they look for; fifth, in the differentiating stage, they sort the information found; sixth, in the
extracting stage, they take important points of the informationfound; seventh, in the verifying stage, they conduct a rechecking on the identity and references used by the writers; and in the ending stage, they reevaluate the information to be used. The interview results indicate that the eight stages proposed by David Ellis have been done by the informants.
