| dc.description.abstract | The research objective is to examine the information search behavior of Notarial Law Master’s students at North Sumatra University. This study employs the descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The research data are collected
through the interview technique with four informants. The interview results suggest that first, in the starting stage, the informants have an initial understanding what information they need; secondly, in the chaining stage, they
look at other references that may be used; thirdly, in the browsing stage, they search for information through the internet or by visiting libraries; fourth, in the monitoring stage, they aim to be up to date in terms of the information they look for; fifth, in the differentiating stage, they sort the information found; sixth, in the
extracting stage, they take important points of the informationfound; seventh, in the verifying stage, they conduct a rechecking on the identity and references used by the writers; and in the ending stage, they reevaluate the information to be used. The interview results indicate that the eight stages proposed by David Ellis have been done by the informants. | en_US |
